On Saturday 6th March at approx 6pm, Clare & Daniel St George were in the surf at Corrimal Beach practising their board paddling when they noticed a youth in difficulty in the water.
They both paddled hard to get to the swimmer, who was caught in a rip, on an unpatrolled beach.
Clare & Daniel managed to get the swimmer on to Clare’s board, and paddle him into shore. The youth was lapsing in and out of consciousness.
By this time, off duty lifesavers Craig St George, Ron Scott and Todd Johnston had arrived at the beach and were able to administer first aid, and contact an ambulance.
This young boy owes his life to the efforts of Clare and Daniel!
Well done, and congratulations. Click here to read Illawarra Mercury article
