Proficiency

PROFICIENCY CHECK

All “Sandpipers” are encouraged to complete their Proficiency for personal development. It is also a requirement for competing. Proficiency Checks will be conducted for “Sandpipers”, Under 8 to Under 14, at Corrimal Memorial Pool on the 19th & 26th September 2010 at 10.00 am for the Preliminary Evaluation .The open water swims will be conducted at a date to be advised. The chart below lists the requirements for the Proficiency Check.

PRELIMINARY SKILLS EVALUATION

For safety and development reasons junior activity participants must complete a Preliminary Evaluation. Details are listed below

COMPETITION SKILLS EVALUATION

The open water swim must be completed during the Proficiency Check stage and signed off ONLY by a qualified examiner.

SURF EDUCATION

All “Sandpipers” will undergo the Surf Education Program. This will be conducted during Sunday morning nippers. The levels of education are –
Under 8/Under 9 – Surf Aware
Under 10/Under 11 – Surf Safe
Under 12/Under 13 – Surf Smart
Under 14 – Surf Rescue Certificate

There is a booklet corresponding to each level. If your child is on the same level as last season and has retained their booklet let their Age Manager know and bring it along on Sunday mornings. Keep these booklets for the following season and for future reference.
